Areas of Practice
Psychoeducational Evaluation
Psychoeducational evaluations help identify the issues that might be interfering with a student’s ability to learn and perform at optimal potential. A psychoeducational evaluation measures an individual’s cognitive (i.e., intellectual) abilities, academic achievement, memory, attention, and processing abilities. It can determine whether an individual has a learning disability impacting academic performance. Attention, executive function, and emotional development are assessed as part of the evaluation process. The goal is to develop an effective learning plan for the student.
Neuropsychological Evaluation
Dr. Clair has received academic instruction, didactics, and clinical training in neuropsychological assessment. Neuropsychological evaluations help to identify brain-behavior relationships and how brain pathways impact function. A neuropsychological evaluation measures an individual’s cognition and neuropsychological processes to understand an individual’s functioning. A treatment plan with recommendations are provided.
SCHOOL CONSULTATION
School consultation can address both individual and school needs. Students may experience behaviors that are complex and interfere with learning. When a child experiences behavior concerns a consultation will include observations, consultations with teachers and administration, functional behavior assessment, and intervention planning. This service does NOT include testing. Consultation can also be provided to schools concerning issues such as classroom management, mental health issues in the schools, faculty training, and more.
Forensic Evaluation
Forensic evaluations and independent medical evaluations are provided for civil legal cases. Issues evaluated include traumatic brain injury, post concussion syndrome, and education issues, among others.
Concussion Evaluation
Concussion is a very complex injury that impacts individuals in a unique way. Our concussion evaluations assess neuropsychological function to understand the impact of symptoms on your cognitive and emotional domains. The evaluation is as noninvasive as possible. A brief evaluation will measure the domains that are typically impacted by concussion and a determination of areas of deficit will be identified. An accommodation plan will be developed to address the individual’s symptoms in school or at work. Treatment recommendations to support your recovery are included.
Sports Concussion Consultation
Concussion is a serious issue impacting athletes and teams at all levels. Consultation services are available for both teams and schools. Services include concussion training, management of athletes with concussion, development of return to play and return to learn protocols, and development of concussion management systems.
